Hazel L. Winter, 93, of Carmi, Ill., died Tuesday, May 5 at Wabash Christian Village in Carmi. She was born March 27, 1927, in Carmi Township, White County, Ill., the daughter of Joe A. and Ellen Ara (King) Renshaw. She was married to Clyde Hankins and he preceded her in death in 1967. She later married Ralph Winter, and he, too, preceded her in death in 2006.
Hazel was a homemaker and a member of the Emanuel United Methodist Church in Carmi. For many years, she was an active member of the White County Home Extension.
Survivors include daughter Marcia (David) Coston of Carmi; son-in-law Guy Abbey of Austin, Texas; daughter-in-law Glenda Hankins of Carmi; step-son Dennis (Deanna) Winter of Carmi; grandchildren Dr. Brian (Shannon) Abbey, Louis Hankins, Jana (Jeff) Bradshaw, Jill (Ben) Talley, Aaron (Tabitha) Coston, Laura (Jonathan) Rush, Caleb Coston, Rebecca (Erik) Goodge; step-grandchild Amy (Derek) Hancock;
Great grandchildren Allegra, Coryn, Ethan, Sharea, Broden, Evan, Ava, Olivia, Kayleigh, Axel, Emma, Ayva, Sawyer, Hank, Eliza, Ezekiel, Ramsey, Scarlett, Rosalee; and several great great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; son Darrell Hankins; and daughter Rita Abbey.
Funeral services are private, and burial will be in North Maple Ridge Cemetery, in Carmi.
