Virginia E. Tice, 94 passed away at 10:12 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Ind. Virginia was born on Feb. 28, 1925 in Albion. the daughter of Lyman and Merty l. (Durham) Gill. She married John Tice, Sr. and he preceded her in death.
Virginia had been Secretary for State Farm Insurance, was a life time member of the American Legion Auxiliary a long-time member of the VFW and a member of First Christian Church in Pittsfield since 1988. Virginia was baptized into the Christian Church at age eleven by her grandfather, Rev. P.M. Durham in Edwards County.
Survivors include her grandchildren, Amy Ridgley and her husband Dave of Vincennes, Ind.; Anthony C. Tice and his wife Karen of Orlando, Fla.; Jennifer Anaya and her husband Ron of Clarksville, Tenn.; step-grandson, David Butler and his wife Alisa of Oakgrove, Ky.; daughter-in-law, Sue Tice of New Canton, Ill.; step-granddaughter Nicole Bareis of Barry, Ill.; five great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John Tice, Sr.; sons, John Tice, Jr. and Steven R. Tice and two brothers, Robert and Kenneth Gill.
Private graveside services will be held at a later date and Goodwin Funeral Home is honored to assist the Tice family with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to West Village Cemetery or Pittsfield Christian Church. On line memories may be shared with Virginia’s family and friends at www.goodwinfamilyfh.com.
