Betty J. Keener, 91, of West Salem

91-year old West Salem resident, Betty J. Keener passed away Friday morning, April 24 at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mount Carmel.
Betty was born July 2, 1928 in Vincennes, Ind., the daughter of Harold and Alice (LeMaster) Cooper. She was married to Wilbur Keener on April 2, 1948 in Mount Carmel. They celebrated 67 years of marriage before Wilbur’s passing in 2015.
Betty had worked at Wabash General Hospital in Mount Carmel for 15 years, and was a book keeper for Wayne Building Products in West Salem. She was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church in West Salem and the Ladies of the Moose.
Betty is survived by two sons, Michael and Patrick (Donna) Keener, both of West Salem; one sister, Peggy Norman of Salt Lake City, Utah; three grandchildren, Chance, Branden and Stephen; eight great-grandchildren, Avery, Tanner, Kaitlyn, Easton, Kami, Lilly, Raylan and Emma Rose. Preceding Betty in death were her parents, her husband and one sister.
Graveside services were held 10 a.m. Monday, April 27 at Graceland Cemetery in Albion. There was no visitation. Memorials can be directed to the Zion United Methodist Church and will be accepted at Nale’s Funeral Home. Online condolences can be left for the family at www.nalesfuneralhome.com. Nale’s Funeral Home of Albion was in charge of the arrangements.
