Ruby Mae (Stull) Mitchell, 105, of Crossville, died Saturday, Aug. 29 at Wabash Christian Village in Carmi. She was born April 14, 1915, in Dahlgren, Ill., the daughter of Cloyd C. and Inez (Linvelle) Stull. She married James Russell Mitchell on Dec. 27, 1941 and he preceded her in death on July 10, 1982.
Ruby was a Crossville icon, and often bragged that she was the “meanest woman in Crossville,” which was a lie to anyone who knew her. She attended the Crossville United Methodist Church and she enjoyed cooking, sewing, crafting, gardening, flowers and walking.
Survivors include her great-niece, Vickie Stull of Grayville; great-nephews, Ronnie, Mike, Jerry, Curtis and Clyde Richardson, all of Colorado and several cousins.
She is preceded in death by her husband; three brothers and one sister.
Visitation and funeral are Thursday, Sept. 3 at the Crossville United Methodist Church in Crossville. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. and continue until the funeral at 11 a.m. Burial will be in White County Memorial Gardens in Carmi.
Memorials may be made to the Crossville United Methodist Church in Crossville, and will be accepted at the church or at Cook Funeral Chapel in Crossville which is in charge of arrangements.
