Despite tallying 36 digs on the road, Edwards County was unable to leave Fairfield with a win Monday evening.
After taking the Lady Mules to three sets in Linda Oxby Gymnasium earlier in the season, they lost in two games in Wayne County; 25–14, 25–15.
Senior Caelyn Nelson led the Lion defensive effort, making 13 digs. Classmate Darcy Clodfelter managed eight assists and six digs, while Amaya Lashbrook had eight assists as well, also tallying two digs and an ace in the loss.
Junior Meredith Gillard led the team in kills with five, accounting for two digs as well. Lexie Hill netted four kills and a dig, while Alli Goering recorded one kill and one dig.
Audrey Rotramel, a senior for the Lions, registered three kills and two digs, with Hannah Taylor making good on one kills and one dig on the night. Freshman Zeme Markman managed two kills and two digs, while sophomore Ava Greathouse had four digs.
Senior Rachel Perkins netted two digs against the Mules.
In junior varsity action, the Lions fell to Fairfield; 25–14, 25–21.
