93 year old Albion resident, Dorris Laverne Frankland passed away early Monday morning, May 26 at Oakview Nursing & Rehabilitation in Mount Carmel, Illinois.
Dorris was born March 26, 1927 in Edwards County, to Roy and Mildred (Smith) Saxe. She married Albert Leo Frankland on July 24, 1948 at Mt. Zion Church in rural Albion. They enjoyed nearly 63 years together before his passing on June 6, 2011. Dorris was a homemaker; however, before starting her family, she had been a secretary for the county school superintendent. Dorris and Leo were part of the T&C Club, which is a pinochle club, for several years and she had been a member of the Olive Congregational Christian Church before its closing.
Dorris is survived by one son, Roger (Beth) Frankland of Evansville, Ind.; three daughters, Patricia (Al) Fritschle of Newburgh, Ind., Phyllis (Don) Ensor of St. Francisville and Kathy (John) Miller of Newton; five grandchildren, one step granddaughter, seven great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, two sisters Gwendolyn Rotramel and Imogene Saxe and one brother, Victor Saxe.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 30 at Graceland Cemetery in Albion. There will be no visitation. Online condolences can be left for the family at www.nalesfuneralhome.com. Nale’s Funeral Home of Albion is in charge of the arrangements.
