S. L. (Sharon Lee) Thompson passed into God’s care at 3:37 p.m. on July 3, one day after his 72ndbirthday. He was born July 2, 1948 in St. Francisville, Ill. to Herschel B. and Juliett (Pierson) Thompson. The Thompsons moved to Lincoln, Ill. in 1964. Sharon graduated from Lincoln Community High School in 1966 in the top ten of his class; he then graduated from Sangamon State University in May 1988 with a bachelor’s degree.
S. L. worked 35 years for Cutler-Hammer/Eaton Corp., retiring as Production Manager in 2003. He was a member of the Logan County Friends of NRA Committee.
S. L. married Jane Wickline on June 17, 1967. She survives, as does their twin sons, Mark (Carrie) of St. Joseph, Ill. and Michael (Robbin Veitengruber) of Bloomington, Ill. Other survivors include grandchildren, Alexis (Austin) Juneau, of Houston, Texas, Bradyn Thompson, of Denver, Co. and Conner Thompson, of Columbia, Mo. Additional family surviving include one brother, Herschel Jr. (Deb), of Springfield, Ill.; two sisters-in-law, Barb Thompson, of Ellery, Ill. and Janet (Larry) Bruns, of Taylorville, Ill.; one brother-in-law, Galen (Brenda) Wickline, of Lincoln, Ill. many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers.
Services for S. L. will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 18 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Lincoln at 402 Pekin Street, Lincoln, Ill., 62656. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
